HEAD LOPPER COMETH!!!
Some of you have been kind enough to ask me about my plans for my new comic HEAD LOPPER. Thanks for the interest.
First, this print will be available shortly through a new online storefront (NOT OPEN YET) as soon as the prints arrive at my doorstep.
I have nothing nailed down in regards to the book but here’s what I’m thinking. While I plan on pitching it around I can’t put all my eggs in one basket and assume it will actually play out. So in the meantime I plan on self publishing it to sell in the store and at cons. My goal is to have it no later than June.
ALSO amazing colorist Mike Spicer is coloring HEAD LOPPER as we speak and it looks awesome!!! Thanks Mike!
OK, I hope you’ll still be interested come June. Thanks so much.
DREAM THIEF PINUP
Here’s a pinup I just did for Jai Nitz in support of his new book DREAM THIEF out through Dark Horse later this year. I got to read issue one and it’s a really rad book. Already in issue one you start thinking it’s going one way and your wrong. Very Guy Ritchie. I’m looking forward to it.
Sleepwalker: Not sure if I ever shared this song before, but this is an epic I wrote about a friend who was at that time hooked on Heroine. It’s one of my favorite tracks I’ve written. It’s in the vein of Opeth, Katatonia, Trivium.
Sorry if I’ve shared this before…
The PDF companion to Brand New Nostalgia’s mega-book KABOOMBOX is almost ready to launch. I’m confident all of our backers will enjoy it. Thanks so much, once again, for supporting us. Words only begin to describe our gratitude.
In the meantime, please enjoy the COMPANION’s cover… or not… that’s fine too… ball’s in your court. -AM
HEEEY! Here’s my entry to the Skumbeast TMNT redesign project!!! Complete with a mini interview. -AM
“BOOT THE FOOT” #08: ANDREW MACLEAN VS. “LEONARDO”!SkumBeast: How would you describe your art style and what influences have helped shape that style?
MacLean: My art is brush heavy, shape based, and HOPEFULLY energetic… Of the influences I am aware of, most notable are Mike Mignola, Gabriel Ba, Raphael Grampa, Toby Cypress, James Harren, Jack Kirby, Eric Canete, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera …
Skumbeast: Share a bit about your history with TMNT and tell a bit about why you chose this character and decided to interpret it this way.
MacLean: Like so many kids in the 90’s, I LOVED the Turtles. Watched them everyday, had so many toys! Leonardo was never my favorite though. Growing up I was always that nonconformist kid who never liked the “leader” of a group (like Cyclops or the Red Ranger!).
I wanted to redesign one of the four brothers and wanted someone badass who wasn’t my obvious choice (Raphael).
There is a story behind this design. I didn’t want to deviate too far from the original characters but I wanted to try to make him more badass. So here I decided to base Leonardo’s design in my own sort of future of the Turtles. Here I pictured The Turtles have been battling Shredder and The Foot for years. Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, AND Splinter have all been killed. Filled with hate, Leonardo fights for revenge. To honor his fallen brothers, Leonardo has tied his their headbands to his sword hilts.
SkumBeast: Which was your favorite of the four Turtles?
MacLean: Raphael. I loved that he was a badass, and I loved his weapon of choice. Of the four brothers, he had the shortest reach with those little blades. So I figured he must be the best fighter.
